Uh-Oh

Yes, I promised I will return soon from my unorganized-labour-class like hiatus. But no excuses this time. The truth is that i am being trained for the biggest annual rat race, seeing participants reaching millions and only seven thousand 1st positions. I speak of engineering admissions, the superbowl of India. Anyway, that is one line of thought I wish not to pursue on this blog for fear of sacrilege.

THE topic today is the much talked about global event

*Boomy voice*
END OF THE WORLD!
*Ominous scream*

Yes we all know that by the prediction of some lousy astrologer tens and thousands of years ago, when everyone had a knack of speaking in metaphors, the world is fated to meet it's doom on the 21st of December, 2012. And yes you know it, the disbeliever that I am, I do not agree. Why? Well I'm gonna go out on a limb here and, er, use astrology and religion to support my theory.

So, yes End of the World. Basics first: It is speculated that the world shall come to it's end as we know it on the 21st of December 2012. We don't know if it's all going to happen in a day or gradually, but as on 21st December, 2012 anything with the suffix "Earth" would be regarded as destination non-existent. I mean if you look around for a wee while, you might even believe it for some time and then not sleep the night. Japan's on the verge of another nuclear disaster, there's a man in east Europe blowing his own people to smithereens, racism on the rise once again and cities practically capsizing due to corruption and crime. So is all this the beta version of what we are to see in the coming days? Is it the level one of a life sized Game Over? I don't know. But I happened to trip over a possible explanation hidden in pages of Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code recently. (yes, really)

The movie Batman Begins speaks of The League of Shadows, a
notorious organisation claiming to collapse cities when required.
Maybe, there's a reunion in 2012.
Rewind to eleven years back, when the world went crazy over the change of millennia, Mr. Earth completed 2000 years of being mapped and recorded. By variables and constants set up by us mortals, our (roman) calendar made a transit from the Millenia of Pisces to the Millenia of Aquarius. Atleast, that's what we thought. The roman calendar as we know it does not coincide to a perfect T to astronomical movements therefore setting the cycle askew. Implication: We still might be under the influence of Pisces, and probably haven't made a transition to Aquarius yet. Now here's where the metaphors come in. Early astrologers referred to this period, the transition of millennia as the end of days. It is considered as a spiritual journey of the thoughts of mankind and is meant to bring about a radical change. Like, for example Pisces was a period when man was not free to think for himself and was thus required to be told as to what to do. Good ol' Aquarius on the other hand speaks of an enlightenment that shall set man free to think for himself and, I quote Dan Brown, "learn the truth".

Now some of us nay sayers (like me) would argue that the renaissance took place in the period of Pisces thereby, my dear astrology braniacs, contradicting the preachings. But as I say, astrology is nothing but dry turd. But really, the whole point is that what I think is that in December 2012 we mortals are going to undergo a life impacting change, and hopefully in the process we'll learn to live up to what we've been branded. THE Civilized Ones.

That's all for now folks. Don't let yourself be bothered by horrors like annihilation and stuff, life's too short for that. Even more so if christmas is not coming next year. So keep a toothy smile up, and go. Live.

P.S. :
For all my fellow lazy ones looking forward to 2012 with glee, awaiting it as the end of all work and studies, This is what really happened:

Sorry, Bro.

The Wrong Victim

This post isn’t going to be a long one, since I have little words, and more emotion at this moment of time. Nor do I have the patience to transform the emotions into a meaningful string of words. I also apologize for my long hiatus. It is my 12th year in school and I have my boards. They’re something of a life changing thing. Nothing too heavy.

On the eve of my country's republic day, I have little feeling of patriotism in me, let alone to be proud of where I hail from. I come from India, not the land of snake charmers as my British friends would like to describe it, but the land where women are raped, and daughters are murdered. And in the end, the justice system which is looked up to by most democracies around the world, just closes the case, and the world is asked to move forward.

There is little new in what I am going to say, but I hope it has some effect. On the morning of 16th May, 2008, Aarushi Talwar was found brutally murdered in her bedroom. Before suspicion could turn to the domestic help Hemraj, his body too was found on the terrace. If you have been following the case, or have the slightest idea what all this is, you should have an uneasy feeling in your gut and a question tormenting your mind. Could the parents be involved? I don’t know about the mother, But Mr. Rajesh Talwar certainly seems to fit the bill. Right now, he’s probably enjoying a scotch at his crib.

On July 14th, 2008 a girl while returning from her coaching classes was forced into a car and gang-raped by 3 youths, one of  them Nirdosh Bhati, a neighbor  to the family of the girl. She was later dumped in a nearby area, unconscious. On lodging a complaint with the police, Mr. Bhati said the family of the girl was trying to extort money from him by making false claims. Excellent. Hey everyone, whoever wants a few quick bucks, just say your daughter got raped by your neighbor.

The trouble with India is that the wrong people are at the receiving end of crime. Nothing is going to come off by killing and raping no-bodies. So a message to all the serial rapists and murderers out there. Rape and murder daughters and sisters of MLAs, Judges, Police Chiefs and Ministers. Suddenly, a case will be solved.

The Dead Poet.

P.S. :  I got a message about a candle lighting to fight for Aarushi. 30th January, 3:00 pm. India Gate. I hope it happens.
